Cal Poly took first place overall at the conference for the eleventh time out of the past 12 years. May 29, 2008 Cal Poly Industrial Engineering Student Wins International Technical Paper Competition Claire Dooley, an industrial engineering senior at Cal Poly, recently won a highly competitive international student technical paper contest sponsored by the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). May 23, 2008 Cal Poly Students Win National Award for Design of a Device to Aid Disabled Workers Mechanical engineering students Paula Gijon and Chittayong (Jao) Surakitbanharn won the NISH National Scholar Award, which recognizes the design of devices to improve access to the workplace for persons with disabilities. May 23, 2008 CENG Alum Elected Chairman of the Intelligent Transportation Society Board of Directors The Intelligent Transportation Society of America announced that its Board of Directors elected Cal Poly civil engineering alumnus Randell Iwasaki as Chairman.
