Financial Assistance for Graduate StudyThe estimated typical annual costs for California residents to attend Cal Poly are posted on-line. Non-residents, including most international students, pay an additional per unit out-of-state tuition, which at 2006-07 fee levels adds $10,170 to the cost of a 45-unit MS program. U.S. citizens and permanent U.S. residents must establish California residency to avoid having to pay out-of-state tuition. It normally takes a year to be considered a resident for tuition purposes. For further information, see the Admissions Office residency web page. There are many types of financial support available to graduate students. As a general rule, the sources of financial aid for graduate study are different than those for undergraduate study, although there exist some scholarships that apply to both. More details about financial aid can be found though the following links: » On-Campus and Off-Campus Employment Opportunities can help cover the costs of your education and provide valuable professional experience. are available to outstanding graduate students to cover non-resident tuition costs. » Fellowships and Scholarships are available to supplement or, in some cases, to fully cover the costs of pursuing a Cal Poly graduate degree.

“It's important to get young students, especially girls, interested in engineering as a career.”
With some of the money I received from a scholarship, I purchased materials for a program I’ve started with other Poly students. The program is called Science, Engineering and Technology in Elementary Schools — we're working with fourth-graders. Hopefully, we will inspire a future generation of Cal Poly engineers. |
